Current Workshops

  • Proposed Intro to LinkedIn: the session will introduce participants to the platform and help build a foundation to apply to jobs and connect with professionals in the desired field through the app. During the sessions, participants will create a profile, add work experience, search for jobs, and make connections.
  • Advance LinkedIn: the session will introduce participants to the platform’s features such as applying to jobs and engaging with recruiters.
  • Explore Career Paths and Salaries: the session will focus on exploring leading careers in society, careers with the most earning potential and exploring the requirements to qualify for those specified careers.
  • How to Use Volunteer Work to get Paid Work: the session will focus on how participants can gain valuable work experience through internship or volunteer positions. The session will also help participants identify employers who are hiring for internships and accepting volunteers.
  • Career Aptitude Test: Participants will take a career aptitude test to identify careers that align with their passion and interest.
  • How to Get an Internship: the session will focus on identifying and applying to available internship opportunities.
  • How To Analyze a Vacancy Announcement: the session will examine several vacancy announcements and identify important components to job descriptions in support of applying to jobs and preparing to interview.
  • How to Respond Professionally to an Email: the session will focus on email etiquette as well as how to professionally respond to emails. Also, participants will be instructed on how to set up alerts on their phone to receive notifications of emails.
  • Hard Skills vs. Soft Skills: the session will explore the difference between hard skills and soft skills in the workplace. Participants will depart the session with an understanding of how a successful career needs a mixture of hard skills and soft skills. Participants will also identify skills they already possess and the appropriate language to articulate each skill.
  • How to Interview: the session will review the major components to prepare for an interview. Participants will also participate in mock-interviews.
  • Advance Interview cont’d: participants will engage in mock interviews. Participants will receive valuable feedback on their interview delivery and how to improve.
  • How to Create a Cover Letter: participants will learn the fundamentals of creating a cover letter.

Introduction to Computer Literacy:  This workshop covers the basics of navigating a keyboard, composing an email, receiving emails, creating electronic folders to easily access documents and an overview of Google docs. This workshop can be custom for the unique needs of your organization. An advance level workshop is available for individuals and groups.

Advanced Computer Literacy: This workshop is for individuals who already have a basic understanding of navigating the computer but are looking to learn computer shortcuts and to become more proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products. The course will also cover email security and privacy.

Introduction to Microsoft Word: This workshop takes participants through a step-by-step guide of the key elements of the software. Participants will receive and overview of the Microsoft Office interface, document types, and essential features. An advance level workshop is available for individuals and groups.

Introduction to Microsoft Excel: This workshop explores the essential features of Microsoft Excel to include shortcuts, formulas and best practices. An advance level workshop is available for individuals and groups.
